Baked Apples
Course: DessertsDiet: Vegan
Season(s): Fall, Winter
Ingredients
- 4 apples, such as Gala, McIntosh, or Empire
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- raisins
- maple syrup or honey
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Core apples, leaving them whole. Make sure you don't cut through the bottom or the filling will come out during baking. Brush them with a little of the lemon juice and place in a baking dish. Put raisins in the apple cavity, sprinkle in cinnamon, and fill with maple syrup or honey. Bake the apples for about 25 minutes or until the apple is soft inside and the skin is taut and browned. Even if the apple has split open during baking it will be delicious.
