Ingredients
- 1 pound stale bread, cubed small
- 1 yellow onion, small dice
- 6 celery ribs, small dice
- 1 tablespoon thyme, chopped
- 2 tablespoons sage leaves, chopped
- 1 handful parsley, chopped
- Turkey or chicken stock/broth, heated
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and Pepper
Instructions
In a pan large enough to hold the above ingredients, melt butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery. Sauté until soft and translucent.
Add the cubed bread and herbs. Mix well. Add enough hot stock to moisten the bread and mix. Add enough stock until the bread is moist but not soaking wet. Season with salt and pepper.
In a pre-heated oven, place stuffing loosely in a casserole. Heat in oven, uncovered, until the top is crusty and browned. Serve in the hot casserole or transfer to a platter.
Optional:
Other ingredients may be added such as browned sausage, chopped dried fruits or cooked rice.
You may also add chopped and cooked innards from the turkey.
