Essential Earth Farm grows microgreens at an urban farm in Connecticut. Their microgreens are tiny edibles grown from vegetable and herb seeds, and are raised without pesticides and herbicides. They offer 5 to 40 times the nutritional value of their full-grown counterparts and are very flavorful.
Farmers Casey Keefe and Lindsay Cohen have backgrounds in conservation and sustainability and met at Westchester’s Greenburgh Nature Center in 2016. They share a passion for empowering people and healing the planet through conservation education. Through the farm they hope to help return humans to their symbiotic and cyclical relationship with the natural world, starting from the ground up - literally! “We’re starting with the ‘essentials’ to sustaining life and thriving ecosystems on our planet - Flora, Mushrooms, and Soil,” they say, and developed their business model with the planet at the center. “Our goal is to create a small closed-loop food system that replicates the cycles of nature. We aim to generate minimal waste while providing sustainable and locally grown produce to our community & beyond.”
