Guoz Garden grows fresh microgreens indoors, using organic seeds, organic soil, and purified water and without pesticides or fertilizers. Leon Guo first became interested in microgreens when he heard about the health benefits of their nutritional content. Inspired by his experience giving microgreen smoothies to his frail grandmother, he decided to scale up his production to grow the vegetables for the public. Microgreens are different from sprouts, which are the ten- to fourteen-day growth of a vegetable plant. Microgreens are vegetables and herbs that are harvested at the leaf stage of growth, in the phase between sprouts and fully grown vegetables. Growing microgreens to harvest can take 10 days to a month. The resulting tiny-leafed greens are brightly colored, delicately crunchy, and offer a range of flavors from mild to spicy and pungent.
